RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assesses and interview patients scheduled for echocardiography procedures to confirm order and determine indications and appropriateness of the procedure.
• Acquires high quality diagnostic images and data according to established laboratory protocols.
• Acquires and analyzes data obtained from the following ultrasound procedures:
  • Resting Transthoracic Echocardiogram
  • Resting Transthoracic Echocardiogram with Agitated Saline Contrast
  • Resting Transthoracic Echocardiogram with Left Ventricular Opacification Contrast
  • Stress Echocardiogram
  • Stress Echocardiogram with Left Ventricular Opacification Contrast
• Authorizes prescription refills under direct supervision of the physician.
• Enters data in the EMR.
• Provides patient education.
• Other activities and responsibilities as directed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associates degree preferred.
• Successful completion of of a cardiac sonography program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), through the Joint Review Committee in Cardiovascular Technology (JRC-CVT) and the Joint Review Committee in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS)
• ARDMS registry preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Computer Literate, prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.
• Prior experience in a clinical position, cardiology field preferred.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and patient care skills.
