Virginia Heart is seeking interns to work alongside full-time staff to contribute to impactful projects. The Internship is a paid, full-time, non-clinical position for students currently pursuing and/or enrolled in a college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level. POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking to employ enthusiastic and driven Summer Interns to assist our various departments/locations across the practice with administrative and patient-related tasks. The Summer Interns are expected to be supportive of your team members, to address problems in a positive and objective manner, and to otherwise contribute in every way possible to help your team, department and company achieve their goals.
The role also requires being detail-oriented and demonstrating excellent administrative and organization skills. Interns will work under the supervision of our office and area managers for a defined period of time assisting in various projects and administrative duties to include revenue cycle management, marketing, and other assignments that they will find exciting! This internship offers an opportunity to work in a healthcare setting to gain exposure and hands-on experience. Your contributions are vital in helping us meet the customer’s demands and in maintaining our competitive effectiveness.
RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Provides support to the office manager and clinical staff
- Provides exceptional customer service.
- Provides friendly and efficient telephone services.
- Collects external/ internal mail on a daily basis and distributes appropriately.
- Keeps reception area and waiting rooms clean and presentable at all times.
- Respects and maintains patient privacy and dignity. Adheres to HIPAA law at all times.
- Assists in assigned projects/tasks
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Currently pursing and/or enrolled in a College/University at an Undergraduate or Graduate level
- Proven experience working in an office environment (preferred)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Computer proficient with good typing skills, MS Office Suites
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task
