At Virginia Heart, we are looking for a Patient Services Representative, Customer Service who is responsible for handling calls presented via the billing phone queue.  Responsible for researching requests, correcting accounts as needed, communicating with Manager, Assistant Manager, Team Leads or co-workers regarding any questions that arise from phone inquiries..

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for answering phones in a courteous, professional and timely manner.
• Access appropriate system/services to provide accurate answers to billing questions
• Provides friendly and efficient telephone services to patients, Virginia Heart staff and others calling the billing line.
• Express sincere concern and empathy when dealing with patient complaints.
• Documenting and updating insurance coverage.
• Transfers calls as appropriate.
• Maintains excellent communication with patients as well as office staff.
• Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions with patients, vendor and fellow employees to create a positive experience.
• Exudes confidence on the telephone fostering reassurance for our patients; maintains positive body language while working with team members.
• Responsible for resolving queries in an accurate, timely and courteous manner. 
• Investigates problem accounts in practice management system utilizing additional resources as needed.
• Recognizes when a problem needs to be elevated for resolution and involves others to problem solve.
• Work assigned work queues in a timely, accurate manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Manager, Assistant Manager or Team LeadsDetermines available appointment time, obtains and records patients’ identification and appointment information in Electronic Health Records system

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• CPT and ICD-10 CM coding criteria and guidelines, with emphasis in cardiology services preferred
• Minimum of 1-year direct experience in healthcare billing (office, hospital or physician practice) preferred
• Knowledge of third-party payers required
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
• Ability to read the EOB and explain definition of out of pocket, deductible and co-insurance
• Experience with computer billing programs
• Must be self-motivated, flexible, punctual, detail oriented and good time management skills
• Must possess the ability to work under pressure and communicate with managers about changes or concerns
• Must have the ability to problem solve
• Precision and accuracy in work is required
